About me
Simon Thomas Graßhoff
I am Simon Thomas Graßhoff, born in 1993, an artist from Dortmund/Germany, and I work under the name "SGrasshoffArt".
My artistic work is self-taught and is done part-time alongside my full-time job as a social worker.
Since January 2025, I have been intensively dedicated to the visual arts.
The focus of my work is on acrylic painting on canvas, supplemented by illustration, pencil drawings (sketches) and digital painting on smartphone and tablet. My works are characterized by a diversity of colors and strong contrasts that intensify emotions and consciously challenge perception. Thematically, my work explores nature, time, and space. Stylistically, I move between surrealism, free illustration, and portraiture. As the tolerated housemate of two feline companions, cats also hold a large place in my heart and, consequently, in my art.
My aim is not to depict reality accurately, but to portray motifs as I subjectively experience and interpret them. Besides my visual arts, I'm currently working on my own fictional thriller debut novel. I continuously document the development of my work—both visual and literary—on my blog to make my creative process transparent and comprehensible.
