I am Simon Thomas Graßhoff, 33 years old, an artist from Dortmund, Germany, and I work under the name "SGrasshoffArt".

My artistic practice is self-taught and pursued alongside my full-time job as a social worker. Since January 2025, I have dedicated myself intensively to the visual arts.

My work focuses primarily on acrylic painting on canvas, complemented by illustration, pencil drawings (sketches), and digital painting on smartphones and tablets. My works are characterized by a vibrant color palette and strong contrasts that intensify emotions and deliberately challenge perception.

Thematically, my work explores nature, time, and space. Stylistically, I move between surrealism, free illustration, and portraiture. Cats also hold a special place in my heart and, consequently, in my art. My aim is not to depict reality faithfully, but rather to portray motifs as I subjectively experience and interpret them.

Besides visual arts, I am currently working on my own fictional thriller debut novel.

I continuously document the development of my work – both visual and literary – in my blog to make my creative process transparent and comprehensible.
